Andy Warhol x Converse

In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” This is just one of Andy Warhol’s many great quotes we remember him for but I wonder if he realized that his own legacy would go on this long after his death. A famous pop artist from the 60’s, Warhol was the epitome of pop culture. He constantly found ways to bring together the worlds of art, music, videography and other forms of mixed media to create provocative works. Anyone who was a part of his world recognized that he was a free thinker who was on the pulse of something bigger, just like another iconic American brand. This is where Converse comes in.

In the 1980s, Warhol reportedly silkscreened his own Chuck Taylors, in order to add his own flair. If he was still alive, I can imagine how popular his interpretation on the classic sneaker would be. Printed with iconic Warhol imagery including Campbell’s soup cans, newspaper clippings, and advertisements, these shoes are pieces of pop art in themselves.

The collection will include the low-top and high-top sneakers, as well as sneaker wedge style. The sneakers will retail between $35 and $90 and go on sale on February 7 online and in stores.
